Vedding in Noo Skver

Attended a wedding last night in Ateres Charney, a hall in New Square (Noo Skver), a thoroughly unaesthetic hasidishe stronghold north of Monsey NY.
First some background: My uncle Yanki has 12 children. His firstborn Fradi was marrying off her daughter Chavi to a twiggy man sporting an 18 inch high beaver fur shtreimel. Or at least I suspect it was beaver. Anyway, it was said to have been purchased at Chavi's insistence. Now Chavi wore a shaytl (wig) that night, which wasn't all that remarkable except for the fact that she wore it BEFORE the chupa. More tomorrow. I've gotta go home.
